Meet our Governors

Mr Alan Tilman - Chair of Governors

I am the Chair of Governors and have been a governor for 4 years since my first child started at the school.

I believe that a good early education for children can have a huge impact on their attitude to learning and their abilities in later education; our school strives to provide the best environment and opportunities for all, and I am very proud to be part of the team that helps shape the vision and direction.

I’m committed to supporting the school and working closely with the Head to ensure the school has the resources required to deliver the best experience we can.

I’m enthusiastic about the children’s learning and development and enjoy visiting the school and helping with enrichment activities to get involved first hand with the children and see the impact of the teaching.  I am proud of our achievements and the results our children get.

Mr Paul Chylinski - Co-opted Governor

I remain keen to build on this and help St. Andrew’s to continue to offer a great education and be a fun, safe place for our children.

Mr James Sheerman - Parent Governor

I became a parent governor when my eldest son joined the school in 2024. We, as parents, were already sold on the commitment and compassion that the St Andrew’s staff gave to the students there and now, with him excelling and enjoying his time at the school, we knew it was the right choice. When the opportunity came up to become considered as a Parent Governor, I immediately put myself forward in the hope to be able to support an already fantastic school with my experience in education and as a father.

I work as a Training Team Manager and Designated Safeguarding Lead for Coventry based educational training provider, PET-Xi. My role is to ensure the safety of children and vulnerable adults across the UK and the training of our staff that work with them. As well as working in education, I am also a writer, theatre director and musician – regularly performing around the UK and in reception classes as some of the St Andrews students may recall!

It’s a privilege to be part of such a wonderful team and I hope that I can use this opportunity to contribute and to develop.

This brings me in contact with the topic of adult learning and people development and I hope to apply that analogous experience for the benefit of the school, the staff and, most importantly the children that we have the privilege to educate and influence at such a foundational stage of their lives. Together with the entire governorning board I'm committed to supporting the school's leadership team and staff to maintain St Andrews as an excellent and inclusive learning environment focused on growth, development and leaving no-one behind.
